Tips & Tricks for Hacking Your Slingbox

The easiest way to receive television at an additional location outside your primary home is by using a Slingbox. There are other solutions such as downloading shows from iTunes, amazon, etc. but that will not get you live TV. A Slingbox is especially useful for when you are not able to receive satellite reception or cable. As long as you have a reliable internet connection, the Slingbox will be your best bet.

Setting up the Slingbox player is a breeze. Simply put, it just works. You install the software to your computer via a simple download from Slingbox.com and it will detect your connected Slingbox right away.

The quality of the video is excellent. The picture and sound are both excellent. Due to the Slingbox's streaming technology, it can play several seconds behind what is actually live, but you would never even notice.

How to Watch Your Slingbox in Two Places at the Same Time

This hack requires some trickery. You will need to use screen capture software to capture the video feed from your Slingbox, and then use another program or website such as livestream.com to broadcast the live video feed. This process would allow thousands or more viewers to watch the video feed from your Slingbox.

Slingbox Scanner - View other people's Slingboxes

There's a torrent that has been circling the internet known as the Slingbox Scanner. The description is as follows:

"I know a lot of you have been waiting for me to put this up for sale, but I’ve just decided to release into the wild. So enjoy. This will inevitably be patched so grab it while you can.

This program takes advantage of a weakness in slingboxes that will allow you to view another’s slingbox. The GUI isn’t pretty, but it does what it needs to do.

There are 3 stream quality options to choose from, HD, SD, and Mobile. HD requires at least a core2 duo 2.8Ghz processor or equal, and 3mbps bandwidth.

There are three provider options. These are not always accurate as they use remote codes as the qualifier, so don’t be surprised if what you selected is not what you get. If that happens, just disconnect and try again.

If the owner of the slingbox connects to it, you will be disconnected. There is no way around this, so just deal with it. It’s free so don’t complain."

It seems very interesting and worth a deeper look into.

Watch two Slingboxes at the same time hack

Ever wanted to watch two Slingboxes at the same time? It's possible! Read below to find out how.

How to watch multiple slingboxes simulatiously:

Not many people know that you can actually watch two Slingboxes at the same time.  If you use the web browser at watch.slingbox.com, its actually pretty simple.

All you have to do is open up two browsers or separate tabs and select two different Slingboxes to watch.

What if you wanted to watch two Slingboxes using the stand alone SlingPlayer for Windows?

If you try running your Sling Player application and then start another one to watch, a message would say “There is already an instance of Sling Player Running” and you would not be allowed to continue.

There is a simple hack to this. All you have to do is edit the SBCORE.INI file that the Sling Player application uses.

If running Windows it will be located in the following path:  \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sling Media\SlingPlayer\2.0 folder

All you do is open up the SBCore.Ini file in notepad and add the switch “MultiInstance=1″ just below the [Main] heading. Save the file and from now on you can open up as many Sling Player’s you wish!
